Traditional martial arts were designed for warfare and protection from life threatening situations.  Although the primary benefit of martial arts training is life protection/self-defense, it also has several health benefits including body strengthening, stress release, improved quality of life, and improved self-esteem.  Martial arts training has been known to increase muscle strength and endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and tone the body through improved body composition. At Tetsu Ryū (Iron Dragon) Martial Arts we offer a variety of different styles to train in depending on how the student is interested in developing there skill set. Sensei Khalid is certified to teach the following styles.

Okinawan Shoreikan Goju Ryu Karate Jutsu

Ryukyu Udundi

Japanese Aiki Jujutsu

Tegumi Justu/Judo    -    Tegumi or Ryukyuan Sumo contains both Japanese Judo and Chinese Shuai Jiao Techniques.

Katori Shinto Ryu Kenjustu (Japanese Sword Arts)

Primary arts taught at the Tatsukan are Shoreikan Goju Ryu, Ryukyu Udundi, and Katori Shinto Ryu, other arts are taught in private or group sessions.

Self-defense training equips people with physical techniques that enable them to successfully escape, resist, and survive violent attacks. A good self-defense course should also provide psychological awareness of how to identify potentially threatening situations, and should provide verbal skills to diffuse violent situations in addition to the physical training component.

A basic self-defense course can offer enough concepts and skills to help you develop self-protection strategies that you can continue to build upon. Self-defense is not karate or martial arts training, and does not require years of study to perfect. One course can equip you with the necessary skills to defend yourself and escape a potentially deadly situation, although we highly recommend more than one course to build up muscle memory for the new techniques. Your life is the most precious thing you have, and having a high level of familiarity with your self-defense techniques will increase your chances of survival if you are ever attacked.

Self-Defense seminars are great for corporate events, group bonding, survival training and learning entry level techniques before deciding on a martial arts style.

Each private or group session will be a maximum of 60 minutes

When a student schedules sessions, the student is charged for the session whether he/she attends or not. Exceptions are as follows:

Emergency of a family member

24 hour notice

Sudden illness
